The National Leadership of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) on Saturday July 4, 2026 felicitated with the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko, on his birthday.
SWAN President Mr. Isaiah Benjamin in a congratulatory message through the Association’s Secretary-General, Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo, eulogised the NSC Boss for his commitment and visionary approach in uplifting Nigeria Sports.
Part of the message contained in a letter reads, “The National Executive Committee (NEC) and the entire members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) felicitate with you, on your Special Birthday Moments.
“Today, we celebrate not only the anniversary of your birth but also your remarkable contributions to the growth and development of sports in Nigeria. Your passion, visionary leadership, commitment to excellence, and unwavering dedication to sports administration have continued to inspire confidence among stakeholders and strengthen the foundation of Nigerian sports.
“As Chairman of the National Sports Commission, your determination to reposition the nation’s sports sector through innovation, transparency, and strategic reforms is commendable. Your wealth of experience and commitment to youth development, athlete welfare, and institutional growth continue to provide hope for a brighter future for Nigerian sports.
“SWAN deeply appreciates the cordial relationship that exists between the National Sports Commission and the media, particularly sports journalists, who remain committed partners in promoting and projecting the achievements of Nigerian sports. We value your openness to collaboration and your recognition of the vital role the media plays in advancing the sports industry.
“As you mark another year of God’s faithfulness, we pray that He grants you good health, renewed strength, divine wisdom, and many more years of impactful service to our great nation. May this new chapter bring you greater accomplishments, abundant blessings, and continued success in all your endeavours.”
The SWAN President then assured him that the sporting media will continue to play its watchdog role, aimed at advancing sports development in Nigeria and beyond.
