The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has led tributes in honour of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, following his election as President of the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Zone B.
This is contained in a congratulatory letter, dated May 19, 2025 and signed by SWAN Secretary-General, Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo.
SWAN hailed Gusau’s elevation as a deserving recognition of his unwavering commitment to football development in Nigeria and across the sub-region.
“Your installation as WAFU B President is a clear testament to your years of dogged passion and dedication to the growth of football in Nigeria, West Africa and beyond,” part of the letter reads.
“As Sports Writers in Nigeria, we are mostly confident that you deserve even more elevated positions in the administration of Football and general sporting management both within and outside the country.
“We will continuously work with and project your football driven development,” It added.
SWAN then expressed confidence that Gusau’s leadership qualities will continue to attract even greater responsibilities in sports governance, both continentally and globally.
SWAN led by Mr. Isaiah Benjamin, further pledged its unwavering support for the NFF President, assuring him of continued collaboration in projecting football-driven development.
