The National Leadership of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has rolled out drums to celebrate the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), CG Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR on his 60th birthday.
SWAN in a letter to its National Patron dated Monday January 19, 2026 by the President Mr. Isaiah Benjamin, through the Association’s Secretary-General, Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo, noted that CG Adeniyi who is also the President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation has remained a beacon of bold and sustained impact in the Nigeria’s Sports ecosystem.
Part of the letter reads, “The National Executive Committee (NEC) and the entire members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) felicitate with you, on your Special Birthday Moments.
“As the Controller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and National Patron of SWAN, your leadership and dedication in shaping the sports landscape in Nigeria have been remarkable.
“Your tireless efforts in promoting sports development have not gone unnoticed and your commitment to excellence inspires us at SWAN and indeed, all Nigerians.
“On your special day, we pray that Allah blesses you with good health, wisdom, and strength to continue serving Nigerian sports with passion and commitment.”
The SWAN President also expressed optimism that the Nigeria Customs helmsman will continue to rise in all his endeavours, as he has been an outstanding and strong pillar to numerous sports and non-sports individuals.
